Dental Hygienist: Working To Support The Dentist

A dental hygienist works very close with the dentist, but due to the variances in the amount of schooling, cannot do the same things as a dentist. A hygienist not only cleans teeth, but when t dentist is working with a patient, they make sure that the patient is comfortable and feels safe about what is to be performed.

Some tasks that the dental hygienist may do is to record what has been done in the patient chart, as in x rays, cleanings and other simple procedures. Good notes are important parts of record keeping.

To be ready for a career in the dental field as a hygienist, one must complete a program. These usually take about two years and the coursework covers many subjects. Some of the courses in the program would be oral health, basic anatomy and physiology, math and science.

The career of a dental hygienist is a great one, with only taking about 24 months to complete, one can be earning a good living in no time at all.
